About

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Jacquelyn Hernandez has always had an admiration for music. She began her musical journey at the age of five, where she started on piano. As she continued to grow, her love and passion for music followed, participating in any possible musical program throughout her academic career, eventually transitioning to her current primary instrument, the French horn.

Throughout her studies, Jacquelyn has been selected to participate in distinguished ensembles and programs. She was selected to perform in 2014 and 2016 with the Florida Intercollegiate Honor Band. In the summer of 2016, she was invited to participate in the Miami Summer Music Festival, and then participated in the 2018 Philadelphia Summer Music Festival.

Jacquelyn earned her B.M. in 2017 from Florida International University, where she studied with Eric Kerley. In 2019, Jacquelyn earned her M.M at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, as well as her Artist's Diploma in 2020, all while under the instruction of Richard Todd. Presently, she performs around the South Florida area as a freelance musician and teaches lessons as a private instructor.

  • Awarded a full scholarship and a Henry Mancini Institute Fellowship by the Frost School of Music for Master of Music in French Horn Performance. 

  • Selected to participate in the 2018 Philadelphia International Summer Music Festival. 

  • Selected to participate in the 2016 Miami Summer Music Festival.

  • Chosen by the State of Florida to perform in the 2014 and 2016 Intercollegiate Honor Band.  

  • Performed at different prestigious venues, including the Adrienne Arsht Center, The New World Center, and the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts.  

  • Awarded scholarships by the State of Florida and by Florida International University’s School of Music for Bachelor of Music in French Horn.
