About

For over 30 years I have been performing as a free-lance musician/entertainer, appearing on 35 cruise ships on a dozen different major lines traveling around the world.  I have also worked in a variety of venues: major hotels, arts festivals, country clubs, churches, retirement communities, the South Florida condo circuit, musical theatre productions, and concert tours in North America and Europe. I spent 4 years at Walt Disney World / EPCOT in Orlando, Florida, and additionally have been a featured classical artist in various venues, as well.

My focus:  Classical, Cocktail Jazz, Ragtime, Argentine Tango, European ethnic styles, and a little light 70's-90's pop.  I don't do rock piano (Elton John, Billy Joel, etc.)

If any of these styles interest you, then consider me for lessons in either piano or accordion (I play both piano-keyboard, and chromatic-button-keyboard, styles of accordion).  You could even do BOTH piano and accordion (your choice of keyboard system), in separate sessions, of course.

Classical Piano was a main focus for me in college, studying with the prominent Seattle teacher Jeanne Hansen.   At the same time, I was also studying classical accordion with one of America's leading accordion teachers and arrangers, Joseph Spano,  who produced several 1st place winners in the American, Canadian, and International classical accordion competitions in the 1960's, -70's, and -80's.  Later on, several years were spent teaching at the Spano Accordion Studio in Seattle.  Since then, I have continued to teach people young and old, either privately one-on-one or in large groups.   For the last 10 years, as a cruise ship musician & entertainer, I was recruited by Princess Cruises (The Love Boat!) to do group lessons for passengers with3 different instruments:  accordion, harmonica, and glockenspiel!  I've taught students aged 8 to 80, and even taught accordion to Chinese groups via a Mandarin interpreter for Princess's China-Korea-Japan itinerary.

Skype and Zoom are what I currently use, but if you'd like me to come to your nearby home, that's a possibility as well.

I like to combine a few etudes (such as Josefy Exercises for piano, and Hanon Exercises for Accordion)  with work on individual pieces, using various piano and accordion method systems.

Often I'll ask students if they have pieces that they would like to play, or are already working on, and go from there.  Otherwise I assign pieces for the student to learn.

If you don't already read music, I can help you with that.   If you only play by ear, I have experience in that method as well.
