About
Growing up in a small town on the Chesapeake Bay I came to music at age 14 starting with rock guitar. As I grew and became exposed to different things I found my musical interests expanding and my passion for guitar increasing. In college I got into Classical, and jazz as well as other string instruments, namely banjo and mandolin. I've been teaching group and private lessons on Guitar, Banjo, and Mandolin in the DC area and online since 2012. I love teaching just as much as performing. I play events as a soloist and in small ensembles but my main creative project is the bluegrass band Cherry Blossom Special.
I like to customize my approach to where a student is in their playing and what their specific goals are. Even the most ambitious students can and should have fun playing music but I place an emphasis on foundations in technique, musicianship, and theory along with repertoire. I also love to teach improvisation and arranging
