About

34 year old Andrée Theander is a Swedish guitar player who's been teaching guitar since his early twenties. As a musician he is educated at some of the most well-established schools in Sweden as well as Musician's Institute (GIT) in Los Angeles, CA. His characteristic playing style has been described as a modern day Joe Satriani or Steve Lukather, as heard on his own melodic rock project The Theander Expression and as a guest performer on albums by other similar bands, like Creye and Outloud. But although originally a rock musician with a great personal touch, he has the ability to be extraordinarily versatile and with a wide range of skills in different genres like singer/songwriter, pop, heavy metal and blues, all the way to jazz and fusion. In fact, he has even performed with jazz giants like Swedish trombonist Nils Landgren and American fusion pioneer Jeff Lorber together with some of the best jazz musicians in the world, including Randy Brecker and Vinnie Colaiuta.

With a detailed and well-developed ear he can play pretty much anything and he is a popular session player for being one rare kind of guitarist who actually got some valuable sight-reading skills. Right now he is working on a  release with his progressive rock group Cap Outrun and he also releases solo works every now and then, all of them available on all the known streaming services.

In addition to his expertise in guitar, Andrée is also a great singer, bass player, songwriter and producer and is happy to help with whatever you need help with within these areas.

Hello everybody! This is Andrée Theander himself! =)

After more than ten years of teaching, I have a lot of experience of giving lessons to both beginners and more advanced players. I have a passion about music education and I think it's important to inspire and educate others. I will continue to do so throughout my career, wherever it may bring me in the future. To be a good teacher is such a natural part of my musicianship that it will never be an option to give up on that. I am therefore comfortable to say that lessons with me are fun, positive and creative and my goal is to inspire you to practice and do the work needed to reach the next level of your playing, whatever that may mean to you personally.

I prefer to have a variety of subjects each lesson, such as playing techniques, ear training, theory, sight-reading, chords, scales and songs in different genres. It will be a mix of the best methods I have learned from my own education in both Sweden and USA, and also from personal experience in the life of being a musician. If you, however, wish to specialize on one specific subject or genre, that is absolutely possible too and we will discuss this in the beginning of your (first) lesson. It is recommended that you describe your own wishes and expectations in a message when you book your first lesson with me.

What I describe above is mainly the guitar lessons since that is what I tend to focus on. With that being said, I do also offer lessons in music theory, music production and Logic Pro because I have lots of experience from teaching within those areas too. If you are interested in that, please use the message function to describe where you are in your learning process and if there are any specific questions you have, then we will just take it from there.

I'm looking forward to hear from you!
