Storytelling Performance: Learning the Story

Storytelling Performance: Learning the Story with Bobbie Pell

Found a great story but need help transitioning from the page to the stage? Veteran teller, Bobbie Pell, will share professional techniques to support you on this journey. Process elements include story choices, scenario block outlining, and scene play for the structure reproduction. Exercises will then help students to layer the story with vivid imagery, crafted dialogue, and personal mnemonics to assist in story flow and delivery. Use of short folklore tales during the class will enable students to be successful with the process which can then be applied to stories of any length or content. Whether telling for family and friends or in professional settings, this class will create a solid foundation for any teller!

This class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Class capacity is 10 students. Registration closes on November 13, 2023. Students are invited to attend a large group Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various classes online.
