Beginning Classical Guitar

About Beginning Classical Guitar

This is a 10-week beginning classical guitar course. No music experience is required for this class! This course creates a foundation for a lifelong learning experience with the classical guitar! Students will need their own guitar and copy of the music book "Classic Guitar Technique Volume 1" by Aaron Shearer. A foot stool or guitar support, tuner, and music stand are also recommended.

Students will learn:
- proper classical guitar technique
- how to read music notation and keep rhythm
- a variety of fun songs

Outcome 1: Set the foundation of good technique with the guitar. Learn proper posture, set up, and technique for both hands.
Outcome 2: Learn to keep rhythm and read music notation.
Outcome 3: Learn a variety of fun songs on the classical guitar!


How It Works

Students can connect to the online platform using a tablet or computer with reliable internet. To actively participate online students also need a webcam with microphone. The live sessions are recorded so that all enrolled students can review the class sessions following the live class. Class recordings will be available for viewing within 48 hours of the live class. The class is covered by the Lessonface Guarantee

ABOUT AMY HITE

Amy Hite is a classical guitarist, music teacher, and Alexander Technique educator living in Temecula, CA. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Masters Degree in Classical Guitar Performance from California State University, Fullerton, where she studied under world-renowned professor David Grimes. She taught at Riverside City College as an Associate Professor of Music and has been performing and teaching workshops and private lessons since 2005. Amy has had an extensive performance career, playing hundreds of private events as a soloist and with various chamber groups. She has performed with singers and flutists, in guitar duos, trios, and quartets, and with numerous guitar orchestras. She was a member of the Fullerton Guitar Orchestra from 2006-2010, during which they performed throughout California and on a three-week tour of Bulgaria, which culminated with a concert at the U.S. Embassy in Sofia.
