About Ink Brush Calligraphy Is the Art Tai Chi
In today’s digital world, I want to show you how to use a soft haired ink brush to draw beautiful Chinese characters and paintings, and I want to bring this ancient art form into your life. The beauty of this art form increases our awareness, it teaches us how to breathe in a busy modern world. Once you have learned some basics, you will definitely be able to express yourself through this art form. If that sounds like fun to you, join me and let me show you what you can do with the magic ink brush to paint your dreams!
This class is limited to 10 students.
Class Materials Needed
Ink set and paper for calligraphy
- - Increase the ability of focus and concentration
- - Understand the history and evolution of calligraphy
- - Understanding the basic stroke orders
- - Use the brush to draw some simple Chinese characters
- - Draw a few small insects or animals
Beginner and Intermediate
The class will meet for eight weekly 90-min live online sessions on Wednesdays at 1 pm ET | 10 am PT | 17:00 UTC on the schedule below. The first session is on June 30.

How It Works
Students can connect to the online platform using a tablet or computer with reliable internet. To actively participate online students also need a webcam with microphone. The class is covered by the Lessonface Guarantee.

I am offering lessons in FOUR categories: Composition, Piano performance, Mandarin language, and Chinese calligraphy and ink brush art. I was born and raised in Beijing, China. I received my education and degrees from Columbia University, Juilliard School, New England Conservatory of Music, Stony Brook University and Cleveland State University. I have taught music in college and universities, and privately for 20 years. Some of my students were recruited by Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and Harvard University in music composition and piano performance.
