About Jazz Piano for Kids!
Jazz is a wonderful language within music! It adds so much creativity, complex rhythms, freedom and fun! Kids are natural improvisors and creators, so why not hone that skill? Join me on Tuesdays at 6pm ET | 3pm PT for Jazz Piano for Kids!
I will use a wonderful method from Hal Leonard as the foundation in addition to some other great resources! Check out the required materials below.
Class Materials Needed
1) Hal Leonard Book - Jazz for Kids (Amazon Link here but also available through other sellers)
2) Wide Staff Notebook (I recommend this one)
3) Pencil and eraser
4) Colored pencils, markers, highlighters!
5) A metronome (I recommend the mini digital for hand held and The Pro Metronome for app)
6) Printables will be sent ahead of time as needed and Soundtrap App will be used (link will be sent when needed)
Age Range
Kids 7-12
Skill Level
Students must have basic music reading knowledge, and be able to play basic piano, but do not need to have prior jazz experience or be too advanced. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

Class: Creative Piano for Kids!
My daughter loves the Creative Piano classes. She looks forward to it all week! The classes are engaging and fun. Each week my daughter is challenged to compose music using a different technique such as using all white keys, all black keys, blues scales, whole tone scales, chromatic scales, songs with words, songs without words, call and response songs, and songs with patterns. Creative Piano inspires my daughter to compose her own melodies, create harmonies, and to use the piano for creativity and self-expression.
