About Watercolor Subject and Technique Series for Beginner and Intermediate Painters
In this 4-session series, students will explore techniques and topics each week to further build a solid foundation in the fundamentals of watercolor through demonstrations and critique. This series will aim to give you many of the tools you need to continue to move forward with your watercolor painting.

Allison Maletz
Allison Maletz is a contemporary large-scale watercolor and mixed media artist. She received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art, London. She has taught people from age 8-80 and currently leads watercolor, drawing, illustration and professional practices for artists classes. She teaches at Marymount Manhattan College, The 92nd St Y, The Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Parsons The New School University. I found it confusing because the reference photo we were using wAs not one but three. I did not know where the light was or shadows. It took time to look at three different reference pictures also that I thought could have been better used. One picture with larger petals would have been more straight forward.

The class was great. I was surprised at how much Allison could cover in 40 minutes. I learned new tips and a new technique, and made a pretty nice little painting in that short time. I'd call myself an 'advanced beginner' so I have a lot to still learn and would enjoy more of these.

I never thought I could draw anything that would look 3D or realistic, but she offers fantastic step-by-step guidance, and it turns out with her instruction I can do a lot more than I thought!
