About
Chris Brokaw first came to world attention with his pioneering work in the bands Codeine and Come. Since then he has recorded over two dozen releases of instrumental and vocal music as a solo artist, scored five feature-length films and two dance pieces, and worked as an accompanist to Thurston Moore, Steve Wynn, Jennifer O'Connor, Rhys Chatham, Christina Rosenvinge, Johnny Depp, and GG Allin. Currently he also plays with The Lemonheads, The New Year, Geoff Farina, and The Martha's Vineyard Ferries. He has taught guitar for 20 years.
I craft my teaching to what each student wants, and what I think might best benefit their playing and enjoyment of music. I hope to advance a student's playing through actual songs, but also through learning both the rudiments of playing and how to break down and experiment with those rudiments. I'm happy to teach flat picking, fingerpicking and slide guitar, in the folk, blues, rock and punk idioms.
