About

Australian clarinettist Emma Scott has over 20 years experience as a professional clarinet player and teacher. She is originally from Perth, Western Australia and has also lived, studied and worked in the Netherlands for a decade, performing with orchestras throughout Europe and the UK. She moved to Siem Reap, Cambodia in 2018 to share her expertise as a professional musician and music teacher opening a music school for local students, Sing! Siem Reap.  She is also the owner and director of music school GraceMusic International which is based in the Netherlands and Australia. From 2023, Emma is also delighted to offer piano lessons on the LessonFace platform!

My teaching style is very much customized to the age and level of the student. For example, in the case of children who are beginners I will be quite directive, giving them clear instructions and tasks of what they are to do and how to do it. For older students I will encourage a more individualized and exploratory style. I don't want my students to be clones of myself - I want them to develop their own musicality and style of playing!

After completing a Bachelor of Music at the University of Western Australia (2001) Emma continued her studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium of The Hague, Netherlands, graduating in 2006 (Bachelor of Music, Historical Clarinet). That same year she completed a Graduate Diploma of Music (Classical and Romantic Clarinet) at the Académies Musicales de Saintes, France.

An individual curriculum will be set for each student depending on age, level of playing and learning style. Depending on the goals of the student we may choose to follow an exam syllabus or not.
