STEM with Isabella Mendes

Welcome to STEM Mondays with Isabella Mendes.

In these classes, we will explore a range of activities within STEM disciplines. We will learn how music and visual arts are very much a part of STEM to create STEAM. Learning through experiment and using recycled materials you may have at home and crafts supplies (i.e. pens, markers, paper, safe scissors, glue, tape, etc), we will develop your child’s creativity and problem-solving skills. Our goal is for children to learn while having fun!

Every week a new activity!

Handouts may be provided for those with printer access but not required.

STUDENTS SAY

Though my son is a little young (four yrs old), the STEM class held his attention throughout. Most importantly, it inspired his enthusiasm and imagination. The content and format created a uniquely valuable experience for him. It not only provided information but encouraged critical thinking through questions, hands-on activity, freedom to be creative, and focus on process. Ms. Mendes introduced basic concepts, then gave the students time to design and build their own instrument. She provided clear and patient guidance, made sure each student had the chance to ask and answer questions and showcase their creations, and continually engaged students with questions, even during the introductory part of the class. My son was so proud of all the instruments he made, excitedly showed them to the rest of the family, and invited us to join his band! Thank you for a fun, creative, active learning experience that left my son excited for the next challenge!
