Originally from Colorado, I received a Bachelor of Music Performance at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. I hold two Master of Music degrees from New York University, Steinhardt. I have over 10 years of teaching experience, and I have a passion for helping my students realize their brightest dreams. As a performer, I have appeared at Dazzle in Denver, The Chapel Performance Space in Seattle, the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival and the National Opera Center. I have experience in rock ‘n’ roll, classical, contemporary, jazz and world music.
In addition to the western concert flute, I play a variety of other flutes, including the alto flute, ocarina and the Andean quena. Most recently, I released Big Apple Bonkers, an album for jazz quintet. I love sharing what I know, and I am excited share it with you!
Instead of working from a predetermined lesson plan, I adapt to the unique needs and desires of each student. I have over 10 years of experience teaching a wide range of styles and am at home working with people from different backgrounds. Sheet music and method books are used as a supplement, but emphasis is placed on musicality, listening and having fun.
