Jack is one-half of the Irish house/techno duo Hystereo, formed in Dublin in 2001 with a mutual love of electronic music genres. Their debut album "Corporate Crimewave" on Soma Recordings was acclaimed, hailed as "one of the best albums of the year" by DJ magazine, with support from artists like Digitalism, Vitalic, and Justice. After relocating to Paris, they gained recognition for remixes/"Rebrands" of other artists from 2006-2008 while touring festivals extensively. Their music featured on video games like Tourist Trophy, TV shows like the MTV Europe Music Awards, and in advertisements.

Jack composed and produced an original soundtrack for the indie film Seaside Stories in 2009. In 2010, they returned with the "Cityspeak" EP featuring remixes from Irish artists. They covered Prince's "Erotic City" in 2010 for an Amnesty International charity compilation. Subsequent years saw remixes for Funeral Suits and a track on the "House of Kolour" compilation.

In 2014, they launched their IPO Music label with the EPs "Puis-je?" and "Alright" incorporating funk, disco and house. The "Aquarium EP" followed on The Pig's Ear label, was a staff pick on Beatport, supported by John Talabot & Nialler9, with a track featured in the movie Dublin Old School. Jack's solo "Can You Play This" as Jamby made Gerd Jansen's playlist in 2020.

Who Are My Lessons For:

My lessons are designed for students of all levels, from beginners who are just starting out in music production to advanced producers looking to refine and expand their skill set. My primary tool for teaching is Ableton, but I can also help you with other music production software or hardware, such as Maschine or Bitwig, as well as DJing software and hardware such as Pioneer Rekordbox. Additionally, I can assist you with a mixed hardware/software setup.

Learning music should be fun! I aim create an easy-going, positive and encouraging environment where you feel comfortable experimenting and growing.
I like to simplify the creation process, for allowing an easier creative flow.

My teaching is hands-on, prioritizing practice over theory, though I'm happy to jump into the technical details when necessary.

I recommend Ableton Live for music production. The most up-to-date the better, though version 10, 11 or 12, Intro, Standard or Suite, they are all suitable for lessons.

If you are using similar software, let me know and I'll see if I can accommodate.
