About

James is a Classical Guitarist with over 10 years of teaching experience, and 18 years as a player.

He received his Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance from San Francisco State University in 2015.  While living in San Francisco, he was fortunate enough to take lessons from world class players. With a strong foundation in classical guitar and pursuit of learning other genres such as Reggae, Blues, Pop, Funk, R&B, Rock, he has become a well-rounded, professional guitarist. Currently he plays electric guitar in a touring band that fuses multiple genres with Roots Reggae. He also performs Classical/Spanish/Fingerstyle guitar for events regularly.

My approach has been uniquely tailored to teach students specific goals and learning styles. In our first lesson we will go over your previous experience, and talk about your goals with the guitar. I enjoy teaching students what they specifically want to learn. Whether you want to play professionally or for just for fun, I am here to help.

My expertise as a teacher include:

-Preparing you for an audition, classical guitar repertoire, finger style guitar, music theory, learning your favorite songs, how to read music, proper technique, chord vocabulary, ear training/playing by ear, how to practice, performance tips, music fundamentals

I am very patient with my students and encourage them to be disciplined in their practice.
