My daughter and I have been taking lessons from Lora for a little over one year, now. We couldn't be happier. Lora's shown remarkable professionalism and flexibility. It's clear that she is genuinely interested in helping us to achieve our personal goals with the violin. She's willing to incorporate songs that we would like to learn and--at the same time--she is committed to insuring that we're always progressing in our technique, skill-level, and knowledge. We're super happy to have found her and plan to continue our lessons with her as long as we are able! --Sarah

Lora is a gifted musician and a wonderful teacher. She was able to teach our daughter great fundamentals while making it fun for her. We were so blessed to have Lora as our first teacher. --Nicole

Miss Lora has a unique gift for capturing the attention of her students. Her kindness, attention to detail, and her musical knowledge have produced children that are hungry to learn. My daughter loved her sessions with Miss Lora. I am extremely pleased with my daughter's progress after only a few months of lessons!--Renee

My goal is to give students the tools and skills they need to play the music they enjoy. Since no two students are the same, I tailor each lesson according to the student's goals. I help guide students in picking songs they like that are beneficial to their progress but I mainly let students and parents decide what musical styles and genres they would like to learn. Regardless of whether you enjoy playing fiddle, classical, or Celtic music, all of my students learn scales, note-reading, rhythms, counting, ear training, and tone production. I believe having a solid foundation in technique will make a student sound great whether they are playing George Frederic Handel or George Strait. For all of my lessons, I include detailed notes on what we worked on to guide your practice during the week.

In addition to the one-on-one lessons that can be booked from this page, Lora Gallman is offering a group class titled Playing in Higher Positions for the Violin this Winter 2020. This class will meet for four live sessions on Thursdays, January 16, 23, 30, and February 6, from 5-6 pm ET / 2-3 pm PT. -- Learn more and sign up here.

I use several different curricula depending on the student's level and musical preferences. For beginners I use String Basics in addition to scale and theory books. For beginning to intermediate players I use the Suzuki Books, Solo Pieces for Intermediate Players, Developing Double Stops, Introduction to the Positions, as well as etude and scale books. Advanced students progress through concerti, sonatas and etudes while continuing scales with Hrimaly or the Flesch Scale System. This is not an extensive list of books I use and I am always open to music and books students bring to their lessons.
