I'm Steph and I'm an experienced flute teacher, touring contemporary flutist, improviser and composer who wants you to have the joy of music. I want you to love the flute and be free to express yourself and have a lifelong skill and passion - let's make some noise!
Creative, fun, personable - I will explain things simply in a language you can understand and clearly demonstrate it! I think we are way past the era of old traditional classical-only teaching methods of repeat until your hand falls off - tired of being told you have to do hours and hours of boring exercises? It doesn't have to be this way! Let's use the pieces you already know and love to learn the technique of the flute and the sensitive and subtle language of music.
Lessons for kids - yes I teach kids (recommended starting age of at least 7) I have seen kids who love music and love the flute quit or lose interest as soon as they're forced to play certain pieces for their schools or for exams - we can still provide direction and motivate and inspire them to WANT to learn and improve on their own. When they're a bit older, they may choose to take those exams or enter music school.
