Ella Joy Meir is an accomplished vocalist, pianist, singer-songwriter, composer and sound designer based in NYC. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Berklee College of Music in Contemporary Writing and Electronic Production and Vocal Performance. During her time at Berklee, Meir shared the stage with well-established artists such as Nona Hendryx, Javier Limon and David Broza. She is currently based in Brooklyn, NY and is working as lead vocalist, keyboardist, and songwriter with her independent band Iris Lune. She has performed in venues across the East Coast and in Israel and is looking forward to touring again after a second album release during the summer of 2016. Meir has been teaching private lessons for five years in a number of subjects. She has experience working with different levels, learning styles, and ages.

Every student is unique, and has different needs, goals, and passions. Therefore, every learning experience varies in style and content, and is tailored to the learner. I am a strong believer in learning content through personal expression. I've worked with students on existing music as well as on original materials in a variety of styles. I'm always excited by the adventures each new student brings!

Reviews of lessons with Ella Meir

(This is a review for songwriting lessons with Ella.) Ella has already been a huge help in just a couple lessons. She has pushed me to think deeply about facets of my songwriting that I never considered before, and has helped me with issues I knew I had. Her teaching style is very encouraging, constructive and inspiring while still urging me forward and holding me to high standards (which is very helpful for someone like me that has been in a frustrated rut). Our lessons are mostly conversations, analysis, doing exercises to jump start my creativity, and Ella posing questions to expand my thinking and help me work more in depth on my music. I'm sure she is just as amazing teaching any other subject, and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend her.
