Ji Hyun (Christina) Park was introduced to the piano at the age of six. She took to the piano quickly, and started entering and winning many of the piano competitions around her hometown of Busan, South Korea. When it came time for middle school, she enrolled in a conservatory and started studying piano very diligently. She continued on the conservatory path throughout high school, and started to hone her craft by playing with her church, accompanying the choir and various soloists. When it came time for college, Christina entered another competition that was sponsored by one of the professors at Dong-A University. She ended up winning this competition and a scholarship to attend the undergraduate program at Dong-A University. Upon graduating, she attended and completed the master’s program at Dong-A University as well. Up to this point in her career, Christina had studied and played only classical music, but after hearing some of the great jazz pianists, such as Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, and Wynton Kelly, she became interested in learning all about jazz. She attended the 12-week program at Berklee College of Music in the summer of 2010, and was granted entrance to the undergraduate program for the spring of 2011 with a scholarship. She is currently earning her degree in Pro Music, with plans of pursuing her career in jazz performance.

I have taught children from ages 4-16 at a private music academy in Korea. I am tutoring some Berklee students in harmony, arranging, and counterpoint. My background is classical music, but I can teach jazz, pop, and gospel. I enjoy teaching my students music no matter what the genre. I want my students to have fun with their playing. When I learned classical music in Korea, it was very hard to practice all day and every day. However, I had fun because I like to play piano. So I want my students to have fun with learning and playing music.

My availability is flexible. Most of the time I'm practicing so I can follow my students' schedule.  Please contact me directly if you would like to know find a time to connect.
