About

I'm a music lover, enthusiast, creator, and teacher. I've been surrounded by music all of my life. I started learning to play the saxophone in middle school and was in marching band all throughout middle and high school. When I was in high school, I was also in a Christian rock band in which I played guitar and bass. When I got to college, I continued playing saxophone for my school's jazz band. When I was in college, I also learned how to sing and play piano (as well as many other instruments). I received my Associate's in Arts Degree in Music in 2015. I've been playing piano since 2012 and I've also been making electronic music since 2012. I started giving music theory and piano lessons in 2013 to up and coming music majors at my school and I've been doing it all since then.

My teaching style is very unique. I try to reach out to the student's interests, while maintaining teaching what they need to know. I'm a very direct teacher and I try to teach certain topics in many ways so that the student understands and grasps the concepts more quickly and efficiently. When it comes to music theory, I teach right out of Benward - Saker's "Music in Theory and Practice. When it comes to piano, I first try to understand where the student is in their piano playing ablilities. After I've figured that out, I go through teaching them scales, arpeggios, cadences, sight reading, speed exercises via Hanon exercises, practice / book exercises for general playing, and I even give them pieces to work on (Mozart, Bach, Philip Glass, Chopin, etc), especially if they want to play for recitals or competitions.
