Kyle Rowland (b. Ann Arbor, MI 1984) is an active performer, composer, and educator who works across a diverse spectrum of musical settings. As a drummer and percussionist, Kyle has performed with Vic Juris, Todd Coolman, Pete Malinverni, Wessell "Warmdaddy" Anderson, Tony Monaco, Kate Baker, Radam Schwartz, & James Weidman. He has also composed music for theatre, television, and film.
In the Spring of 2011, he began writing for Stonestreet Studios. His work is featured on their series The 47th Floor, Behind The Scenes, and Paragraph 18. He has also composed scores for their films Modern Chemistry, League of Wonder, Visitors, Work It Honey!, OSWALD, and Quietus.
In 2014, he scored the independent feature Aberrant (Alyssa Rallo Bennett) and the pilot for the independent web series HOUSED (Simone Kisiel). Currently his music appears in The Discovery Channel's Homicide Hunter Lt. Joe Kenda, Disappeared, and Sins & Secrets. His music has also been heard on The Biography Channel's Something Wicked.
As an educator, he has taught clinics throughout the Midwest and tri-state area. He currently holds a B.A. from William Paterson University and an M.A. in music from SUNY Purchase College in 2012. He teaches a small number of private students and is on faculty at The JCC On The Palisades.
The main objective with any student is to effectively assess and develop their individual needs while reinforcing the fundamentals of their chosen craft.
For drumming, the various topics include drumming fundamentals, time/grooving, tuning, soloing over song forms.
For producers/engineers: mic types and placements, fundamental to advanced use of effects (compression, reverb, etc.) and techniques/workflows specific to one's DAW.
