Peter Slavov is a New York-based double bassist, composer, session musician, arranger, and educator. Since he started performing professionally, Peter has performed at some of the most prestigious venues and festivals in more than 30 countries on 5 continents.
After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2002, Peter Slavov has performed and/or recorded with world-renowned artists, such as Quincy Jones, Joe Lovano, George Garzone, Simon Shaheen, and Danilo Perez, among many others.
Peter Slavov is featured on the most recent album by Joe Lovano's Us Five - "Cross Culture" as well as on Alfredo Rodriguez' Grammy-nominated "The Invasion Parade", produced by Quincy Jones.
Peter’s recording credits include more than 35 albums.
In addition to Joe Lovano's Us Five, Peter is also a member of the Joe Lovano Europa Quartet, Francisco Mela's Cuban Safari, the trio of Cuban piano sensation Alfredo Rodriguez,the Uri Gurvich Quartet, the Fabrizio Sotti Trio and child prodigy Emily Bear’s Trio.
Peter Slavov has performed with twenty seven-time GRAMMY award-winning producer/composer/arranger Quincy Jones’ Global Gumbo Project.
Since the fall of 2012, Peter has been teaching an annual master class at New Bulgarian University in Sofia, Bulgaria.
He has also taught master classes at Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Mexico and the Wheeler School in Providence, RI.
Having performed, recorded and taught for years, and having studied with masters such as Hal Crook, Joe Lovano, and George Garzone, Peter has developed an approach to instruction that stresses not only instrumental technique and improvisation, but also building a solid and efficient practice routine that works for all genres and proficiency levels.
