Shawn is an Undergraduate Oboe student at Rowan University. He is constantly striving to learn more about Oboe and the world of music.
I love teaching private lessons and have a passion for seeing my students excel in music as they improve themselves!
Shawn currently plays Oboe for Rowan University's Orchestra & Wind Ensemble. And also with the Philadelphia Sinfonia
Has played with the Atlantic Pops Community Band.
My focus for lessons is developing in students a strong foundation in their tone, articulation, reading and musicality right from the get-go regardless of their age. Music I believe is a disciplined art-form which can only be perfected from proper lessons and practice.
I currently focus primarily on teaching beginning musicians.
I have spent a year working with students in between 4th and 12th grade in a school setting. I mainly focus on teaching the woodwind players but I have helped the brass and percussion players as well. I am very good at helping kids that are just starting out and are not sure what they can do with their instrument in terms of embrouchure, rythym, intonation, and articulation. My focuses are in Oboe and Saxophone performance and teaching. I have studied with David Schneider, Principal Oboist of the Philly Pops , Joe Rotella, Robert Portnoy, and currently study with Dr. Mark Snyder at Rowan University.
I have experience from high school in leadership positions in Marching Band leading my peers in excelling as musicians. I have participated in the Regional SJBODA Concerts both as a student and as a volunteer music teacher.
I was the 1st Chair Oboist of the Atlantic Pops in New Jersey. We have 3 concerts a year and frequently feature guest artists and conductors.
I play Oboe/English Horn with The Philadelphia Sinfonia as of March 2017.
I attend Rowan University for Music Education with a focus in Oboe and Saxophone as my secondary.
