Originally from the Netherlands, now based in Brooklyn, NY, Vivienne Aerts works as a vocalist, pianist, composer and educator. In addition to her degree in Vocal Performance from Berklee College of Music, she also has a degree in Choir Directing, and a Master's in Clinical Psychology.
As a vocalist, she has worked all over the world with renowned jazz artists such as Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, John Patitucci and Joanne Brackeen, and shared the stage with both national and international jazz icons such as Lee Konitz, Kenny Werner, Joe Cohn and Florian Weber. She has been residing in New York City since 2015, and has recently played at prominent venues like the Blue Note Jazz Club. Currently Vivienne is working on her third album, to be released at the end of 2016.
As a vocalist, composer, pianist and educator who is passionate about teaching, Vivienne believes in sharing her joy for music with students of all ages. She is grounded in jazz, but is adept in all styles of music. Vivienne has been teaching private piano and voice lessons all over Europe for the last 15 years. For the last five years, Vivienne has also been teaching songwriting and improvisation workshops at the University of Leiden (Netherlands) and at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Vivienne has a wide variety of students and lesson plans, from the absolute beginner to advanced and professional students. She is known for successfully preparing students for Berklee College of Music auditions.
