Started her formal training at the age of 8 with private piano lessons and then began cello the following year. She was chosen to perform with the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra at the age of 12. By the age of 15, as she was still mastering Beethoven Sonatas, she began teaching privately. Kam is a born teacher/people-person. At 21 years of age she moved to Dominican Republic and Haiti to devote 5 years of her life to helping others. When she saw the huge humanitarian need that existed she made the decision to sacrifice a personal career to helping others and she has made service her life’s work. She is an enthusiastic and passionate woman who believes that learning to express oneself through music is one of the greatest gifts we receive and share.
