Since childhood Vighnesh has had an affinity for rhythm and percussion. His initial training started at the age of 12 under T. Haridas Pai and Bhimashankar Bidanur. For the past five years he has studied under the tutelage of Dr. Aneesh Pradhan of Mumbai, who is one of the world's leading tabla players, and also a composer, author and leading authority in the field of Indian Classical Music. Vighnesh is an upcoming tabla soloist & has inherited a rich and varied repertoire of traditional tabla solo compositions from the Delhi, Ajrada, Lucknow, Farrukhabad and Punjab gharanas. He is equally at home as an accompanist. He has accompanied many senior musicians like Pt. Tulsidas Borkar, Pt. Murli Manohar Shukl, Shubha Mudgal,  Pt. Prabhakar Dharmadhikari, Archana Kanhere, Ustad Rafique Khan, to name just a few. 

Vighnesh has been on faculty at The True School of Music in Mumbai since 2013, and has also been teaching students privately & online.

His teaching material includes a huge repertoire from the Delhi, Ajrada, Lucknow, Farrukhabad and Punjab styles of Tabla playing.

Vighnesh has developed his own interactive teaching methods and materials. Various topics covered will be as follows:

-Basic notation and vocabulary

-Warm-up and strength building exercises

-Various rhythmic time cycles viz. Taals.

-Compositions like Peshkar, Kaida, Rela, Gath, Tukda, Paran, Chakradhar, etc. in  various Taals.

 -Accompaniment to Vocal, Instrumental and Dance forms of Indian Classical Music.

-Approach to cross-cultural music interactions and so on.
