Wesley Knust

Hello! My name is Wesley, and I teach piano and trumpet. I hold a Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Saginaw Valley State University. My graduate research focused on incorporating composition and improvisation into piano lessons for adolescent beginner students. I have taught privately, as a small group instructor, and as a clinician for several years. Private students of mine have received Division 1 ratings at District and State Solo & Ensemble festivals. Students of mine have also gone on to major in music at the college level. 

 In addition to my teaching experience, I also have a variety of performing experiences. I currently serve as the Music Director at First United Methodist Church of Mount Clemens where I play piano and organ and direct the Chancel Choir. I directed the Blue Water New Horizons Concert Band, a community band in Port Huron, for their 2021-2022 season. As a musician who works in popular styles, I have played large venues such as casinos with full bands, and performed as a solo artist at private parties and fine dining establishments. As a trumpet player, I have performed with brass quintets, jazz groups, and concert bands, including the Saginaw Eddy Concert Band. 

I work with students as young as seven years old and adults as old as ninety nine. I am eager to help you progress on your musical journey!
