About
A graduate of San Francisco Conservatory Of Music, I have been teaching clarinet and piano for over 20 years. During those years, I had opportunity to perform during the intermission of San Francisco Ballet and in the San Francisco Mozart Summer Festival, San Francisco Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Conservatory Opera, made recordings with the Watchtower Society Orchestra. I was also a recipient of the King County Arts Commission to perform chamber music series in Seattle Washington.
Currently, I teach privately to 25 students in my studio. Over the years , I taught students of all ages from 4 to 75 years old. Many of my students participate in their school band and orchestra program. Some of them also play in their local Youth Symphony Orchestras and State Honored Band.
I usually incorporate music theory, famous composers and music history in the lessons. My students have opportunity to perform twice a year in recitals, participate in the Music Artistry Program with the Music Teachers National Association as well as Solo and Ensemble program from their schools. I'm proud to announce that one of my clarinet students won the 2020 Washington state clarinet competition.
Music is a wonderful gift to our life. So my goal is to help students come to understand and appreciate various styles of music and engage in playing music as a lifelong enjoyment.
Besides working on repertoires from all four periods of Baroque, Classical, Romantic , Contemporary music and Ragtime music, I also let students select their favorite pieces either popular songs or movie themes. Besides helping students work on various techniques, posture, breathing and embouchure for clarinet, hand position and touch for piano, I also teach them how to express the music beautifully but in its respective style appropriately.
In my 20+ years of teaching, most of my students took lessons with me for 10+ years until they graduated from high school.
I teach both clarinet and piano from beginning to advanced levels.
