About
I have been teaching violin and viola for 4 years and love every minute of it! Whether you're looking to join your school orchestra, learn a fiddle song or play in a band, or learn your favorite violin concerto, we can reach your goals. I have been playing lessons for 15 years and ever since I began taking lessons at age 6, it's been a huge part of my life. I am finishing my BM at KU School of Music and have had the oppurtunity to be actively invovled in KU's award winning orchestra, chamber groups, compeitions, and even being selected to travel to perfrom in Milan, Italy . Whether you're a beginner or advanced, 4 years old or 84, I am excited to share my love of music with you and help you grow!
Teaching Style
Growing up with the Suzuki Method, I believe it provides an unmatched foundation for string players. We focus on posture and technique-these are crucial to be able to play with a beautiful tone. I encourage a lot of music listening and work on developing the student's ear. We will use specific excersies and worksheets to break down rhythm and note-reading while making it fun! Have a favorite song or style you want to learn? From classical to fiddle, pop to jazz, I LOVE to help student's find what music they like playing. I want you to love music and violin just as much as I do.
Curriculum
For most beginners we will use I Can Read Music, Essential Elements and Suzuki for Solo Pieces. As the student grows we will include for etudes and scale books. Based on what the student's desires to learn we can always choose pieces based on their interests.
