About
I started musical studies when I was 9 at the Valencia Municipal Conservatory "José Iturbi". In 2013, I was admitted to the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) where I obtained my bachelor in Music Performance studying under professors Jonathan Camps from Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and Andrew Ackerman from Concentus Musicus Wien.
Thanks to a Fulbright Grant from The Commission for the Intercultural, Educational and Scientific Exchange between Spain and the United States, I started in 2018 a Master in Music Performance at Butler University, Indianapolis (IN) where I have studied under double bassists David Murray, who is the principal of Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and Ju-Fang Liu, also principal of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
I have been an active member of several youth orchestras, including Spain National Youth Orchestra (or JONDE) and I have also developed a professional career as a collaborator for other groups, such as Orquestra Camera Musicae, Orquesta Simfònica del Vallès, and Barcelona Symphony Orchestra (OBC).
As a chamber musician, which is my true passion, I was selected to participate in the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick, Maine on 2019. I am also interested in improvisation and music from other cultures, and that is why I participated in an educational trip “Musicking Futures in Malaysia” in 2019.
I have attended masterclasses from prestigious double bassists in Europe and North America, such as Matthew McDonald and Edicson Ruiz from Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Gary Karr, Kurt Muroki, and others.
I like to think about myself as a facilitator that is here to help students achieve their maximum potential. I am always interested in what students need and what they have to say about music, and I believe that good communication is essential in any lesson. Over the years I have discovered that often times, I am the one who is learning in every lesson, and it is incredibly rewarding when my students achieve their goals.
