About
I have been performing and teachingĀ music for many years in a variety of situations and trained at the Royal Academy of Music (London) and King's College. As a wind player (Clarinet, Saxophone, Flute and Recorder) I perform regularly in orchestras as a soloist and orchestral player and my piano skills are used as an accompanist. I have taken students from their first lesson through to diplomas and university and conservatoire preparation, taught theory up to grade 8 and also taught GCSE and A level music with consistently excellent results. I am currently working on my PhD in composition at Kings so I am familiar with arranging and composing in a variety of styles. I look forward to working with you š
Although I studied in a rigid and intense fashion at The Royal Academy of Music, my teaching style is quite relaxed as I believe thatĀ love for music is itself a wonderful self-motivator. I enjoy the variety of working with students at all stages of their musical development with enthusiasm being the most important quality in both a student and a teacher.Ā Building trust between student and teacher is important as it is scary to play, ask questions and inevitably make mistakes in front of someone new.

I use a range of tutors, classical and modern repertoire and my own arrangements and resources but more importantly I work with each student individually to create a tailored approach dependentĀ on the students particular style preference, starting point and required outcome.Ā
