About

Ahou Yasmine is a soprano concert soloist specializing in musical theater, classical, jazz and contemporary styles based in the Los Angeles area. She has studied voice and Alexander Technique with master teachers of Grammy award-winning Los Angeles Master Chorale and performed with the Los Angeles Children's Chorus and Young Men's Ensemble, California Philharmonic, and San Francisco Lyric Opera. She has been a frequent soloist with the LA-based vocal arts group Artes Vocales for several years, where she has performed solos from Mozart and Vivaldi to French art songs and Gilbert & Sullivan as well as musical repertoire. She has also recorded contemporary demo songs, including a cover of Kate Bush's Army Dreamers as well as her own original music. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Utah where she studied theater and voice. She values a whole-body approach to singing that has been a game-changer in her own singing. She loves singing art songs to jazz and musical theater to baroque pop.

Outside of singing, Ms. Yasmine is a musical theater librettist and lyricist, having premiered her first short musical titled "Seeing the Light" in 2022 at The Broadwater in Hollywood. She is a member of Actor's Equity, Dramatists Guild, and Maestra.

I teach vocal technique for singers of all ages and levels within a holistic approach to free the vocal instrument.  Lessons are fun and empowering as we learn to support the vocal instrument with breath support and increased body awareness. Learning to manage the breath is key to good and healthful singing and my teaching style is influenced by principles of the Alexander Technique, which is phenomenally effective in improving singing technique with greater ease.

I work with children as well as teenagers and adults, tailoring lessons to each age range and experience level.

Whether it's an uptempo musical theater ballad, a folk song, Mozart aria, jazz or pop selection, we end with working on capturing the artistry and vocal style of a chosen piece in a pressure-free, step-by-step process.

Work on improving your singing or prepare for your next studio recording, audition, performance, or just to learn to sing for fun!
