Akansha Jakhar

Akansha has been a professional artist since 2002 and has won numerous local, regional, and national awards for her paintings. She is represented by galleries throughout Canada, United Arab Emirates, and India. She opened her own Art Studio in Toronto, Canada.

In this working studio, she paints and sells her watercolors, oils, and alcohol inks and teaches beginning and intermediate art classes. Teri developed her unique teaching style after noticing how students struggled to remember each step of a painting. Breaking a painting down into simple segments helps beginning students learn by watching and doing the same process themselves.

I am an interest-based instructor.  Feel at ease with a friendly, relaxed, and entertaining art instructor.  I teach homeschoolers, public school students, and adults, always with the student's interests as the basis of our curriculum goals.   The student sets the pace regarding subject matter, personal goals, and general interests.  I challenge students with open discussion, encourage critical thinking, and use daily practical experience, current research, and steady practice to improve skills consistently.  Step-by-step lessons mixed with guided practice are the daily processes that will give tips and strategies for improvement.  File shares of tutorials and projects keep the student busy and connected with the instructor/lesson work between lessons.
