About

My Name is Alex and I'm an alumni of New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA where I studied jazz trumpet under multiple well known jazz musicians such as Donny McCaslin, Dave Holland, Miguel Zenon, and Ralph Alessi. Along with the knowledge of jazz improvisation I gained studying with these greats, I also studied classical trumpet with Steve Emery, a classical trumpet player in the Boston area. While studying at the school I also formed multiple bands with fellow students, some of which are still together today.

In my teaching I stress the importance of creativity along with the fundamental studies I find most helpful for getting a better grasp of the trumpet. I work out of popular trumpet books such as the Arban Book and the Clarke Technical Studies as well as writing my own exercises personalized for the student depending on what I want to work on with them. The goal is to reach a point where the instrument is an extension of the body and everything you play feels natural.
