Alice Frisch
About
Alice holds a Master of Music in Historical Performance from the Jacobs School Music at Indiana University. She specialized in Baroque Oboe, Classical Oboe, and Taille Oboe studying with Dr. Meg Owens. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Modern Oboe Performance from Florida State University where she studied with Dr. Eric Ohlsson.
Alice has played extensively in Indiana and Florida. She has performed with the Bloomington Bach Cantata Series, the Bloomington Chamber Singers, and the Tallahassee Bach Parley. She recently played in Boston with the Gloriae Dei Cantores and Creare Symphonia. Alice has taught private oboe lessons with the Jacobs School of Music Virtual Academy.
Teaching Style
Lessons will consist of warm ups with long tones and scales followed by technique, tone, and rhythmic exercises using for beginners the Rubank Oboe Method or for advanced students the Barret Oboe Method. Students can work on selections of their choosing and Alice will provide standard oboe literature for practice of skills and sight reading. Students will be given practice exercises and musical selections for practice at home.
Curriculum
During lessons Alice can offer suggestions for reed problems, demonstrate how to make reeds and show proper scraping techniques to fix reeds.
