About

I grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago where the school districts were good and access to amazing cultural experiences was a train ride away. After years of voice and piano training, I pursued my B.A. at Luther College in Decorah, IA where I studied French and classical voice. Shortly after, I moved to Seattle, Wa where I dug my heels into the local music scene of rock n' roll, famous for Nirvana and Subpop. I played in a number of bands during my time there and for six years I worked extensively as a music educator in Seattle in schools, privately, and therapeutically.

I have spent the last seven years working as an active musician touring everywhere from Europe to Australia with a band called La Luz as well as working on my solo projects. I have recorded with artists such as Ty Segall, Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and have shared the stage with musicians such as Doug Martsch of Built to Spill and John Dwyer of Thee Oh Sees.

Having transplanted to Los Angeles, CA in 2016, I am thrilled to be a part of a community where music and art are valued. My hope is to share this musical experience with you.

I was a French and music teacher at a private elementary school for six years in Seattle, Wa. In addition, I taught private piano and voice lessons and taught general music at a pre-school for the deaf and hard of hearing. I also worked for six years as a behavior therapist with children with Autism and feel passionate about bringing music and education to children of all learning needs.

My style is to usually start with some basic introduction to an instrument (or Langauge), creating a basic foundation for learning.  From there I like to have my students lead the learning process and follow their interests. Learning should be fun and this is PLAYING music!

Beginner early learners on piano I usually start with Celebrate Piano! as my preferred method. However, I do have experience in Alfred and Faber methods.
