Alyssa Cass

I am a singer, songwriter, producer, and pianist. I gained teaching experience as assistant choir director and piano instructor at Music in the Village at Elon University. I worked as an assistant for Vocal Coach Nick Cooper at the Vocal Corner Store, an artist development center that has fostered artists including Beyonce, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj. In addition, I gained experience working at the Music Technology Lab at Elon University assisting students with music production and recording projects.

For voice, I specialize in commercial music, with soul/R&B. I am also classically trained with a breadth of experience in vocal jazz, musical theatre, and other genres. I have over 15 years of experience in piano and voice. I also teach songwriting and won 1st Place in Elon University’s Songwriting Competition. As an artist, I understand the importance of merging expression with technique. My performance experience combined with my background in music technology lends itself to a holistic approach to teaching.

I graduated from Elon University with a B.S. in Music Production & Recording Arts and double major in Music in the Liberal Arts. Through formal training, I gained performance experience, and knowledge in music theory, ear training, songwriting, composition/arranging, music history, music production & recording, and music business. I gained performing experience through Electric Ensemble (singer/songwriter), Techtronica (Pop/EDM), Elan (Vocal Jazz), and Camerata (Choir). I performed as a vocalist and played keys, as a soloist, and arranged music for these ensembles.
