About
I have over 15 years of experience teaching private and classroom music in public and private schools, ages preschool through undergraduate. I am certified in three levels of Rolland pedagogy and have degrees in music education from Florida Southern College and Florida State University. I am all but dissertation in music from the University of South Florida.
Teaching Style
Lessons use a Rolland Pedagogy approach, which focuses on developing technique and skills at the early stages of learning a string instrument. Music literacy skills are strengthened through flashcards that build rhythm and melodic skills.
Curriculum
Beginning students start with Tunes and Exercises for the String Player (Paul Rolland). Students who have developed good first-position skills add on Suzuki Book 1 (note: I do not use the Suzuki method when teaching from the Suzuki Book, only the repertoire).
