Amy Scott
About
I am an experienced world languages teacher, with 14 years experience teaching Spanish and French in private schools to students age 3 through grade 12, including three years teaching abroad. I also have experience tutoring adults!
I am a mom to three kids, and I love to travel, read, eat, run, hike, and ski!
Teaching Style
My philosophy about language acquisition is that students learn it best when they are having fun! Games, puppets, songs, stories, and videos are my preferred methods for younger children. For older students and adults, I like to focus on your areas of interest, while incorporating grammar and vocabulary into conversation, reading, technology and hands-on projects.
Curriculum
I am trained in TPR (Total Physical Response) and TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) methods, as well as traditional methods.
For preschool and early elementary age students, I recommend downloadable materials sold through a store called The Storyteller's Corner, available at teacherspayteachers.com.
For older elementary and middle school students, as well as older beginners, I recommend texts from tprsbooks.com
The particular text will vary, depending on the student's age and language proficiency.
