Hi there!
My name is Andre Magalhaes and I am a Violinist, Violist, and Composer based on the East Coast. I've been teaching private lessons on and off since 2014 and am looking to add new students to my online studio!
I graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor's in Music from West Virginia University with a focus in Strings Performance and Music Composition. I've been playing both violin and viola for 13 years and have had a wealth of experience in all kinds of performance from orchestral, to musical theater, to recitals, and concerts.

Teaching Style
The biggest thing that I prioritize in teaching an instrument to a student of any age is providing a judgement free environment. If a student is not allowed to fail, then that student will never grow!
As someone who has also taken many a private lesson over the years, I have a lot of experience to inform how I teach my own students. I always want the student to feel comfortable and to feel free to voice concerns, and of course to have fun! Music doesn't always have to be this serious art form, it can also just be a fun way to express ourselves.
Curriculum
For beginner students, I recommend Essential Elements Level 1 books for their corresponding instrument.
For intermediate students, I would assess their level and assign them a Suzuki method book.
For more advanced students, I would again asses their level of playing and assign an etude book, a scales book, and some classical repertoire.
