Andrea Hoyos is a Bogotá-based pianist and singer-songwriter. A graduate of Bogotá’s Pontifica Universidad Javeriana music program, Andrea is an accomplished performer and improviser. The bandleader of two ensembles, Cachicamo and Balandra, her imaginative compositions mix a range of influences Latin folk, to minimalism, cumbia, afrobeat and hip hop. “There’s so much wisdom within music that can be used to create harmony and peace among all human beings,” says Andrea. “Music should always be about sharing, not about competing.”
Hi! My name is Andrea Hoyos and I’d like to offer my services as a private piano teacher. I am a pianist and composer from Colombia. I have been teaching for 10 years now.
In my music lessons I develop a personalized program where you can learn on your own pace and we can work on the following subjects:
- Songwriting to develop creativity, improvisation skills and critical thinking.
- Learn about breathing techniques and body-awareness, making practical exercises where we can experience how music can lead us to a calmer state of mind.
- Playing the music you love, whether it has piano in it or not!
- Getting to know other types of music so you can expand your musical taste.
- Colombian folklore music.
- Technical aspects of music such as piano techniques, music notation and composition.
