About
I specialize in a creative approach to guitar and other instruments combining a solid technical foundation with a strong emphasis on improvisation and composition. My goal is to help students develop their own musical voice from day one.
With over two decades of guitar playing, I'm glad to help students learn a new instrument, but most importantly, help them feel the instrument and learn a lot about sound production, composition, sound effects, and a lot more.
I have 20+ years guitar playing experience and 10 years of teaching, graduated with honours from the Sochi's School of Arts №1 , as well as proved themselves in competitions at the city, regional and national scale. I have received the Mayor of Sochi Award twice, in 2011 and 2021, and the Governor of Krasnodar Region Award once, in 2013.
This year i finished my 2 years contract in Beijing's Modern Academy of Music and Arts where I developed my skills to teach in international community. In 2011 and 2013 I took second place in a Krsnodar region guitar competition and have won the city of Sochi competition twice.
Teaching Style
With my students, I always design an individual development plan for each one. In the beginning, we work on exercises for the motor skills, speed, and finger strength improvement. Together with a student we choose songs to work out, and periodically I suggest tunes and songs from my library. In this way, we develop effectively, with the student's full commitment and joy.
In addition to studying songs and compositions, I place great emphasis on helping students develop their own musical style. We compose music and explore the basics of composition. My goal is to teach students not just to read chords and notes, but to fully understand their instrument—how it works and what kind of music they can create with it.
1-15 minutes - warm-up (scales, riffs, improvisation with backing track)
15-30 minutes - homework checking
30-50 minute - new songs and compositions analysis
50-60 minutes - answers to questions, new homework, conversation about music
Curriculum
I use the classical music school method, but with greater freedom of expression and imagination. We always (or almost always) study pieces chosen by the student, because this keeps them more motivated, and we also learn to compose music, which fosters creativity and emotional intelligence.
