About

My name is Andrei, and I am a professional performing guitarist, published author, and dedicated educator with over 30 years of stage experience and more than 20 years of formal teaching experience. Music has been the center of my life for as long as I can remember. I currently perform as a collaborating guitarist with the "Hungarian State Opera Orchestra" from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. My academic musical foundation began at the "Ion Ștefan Paulian" Music High School, where I developed a deep structural understanding of classical theory and instrumental performance. Over the decades, I have expanded my expertise to study, perform, and analyze a wide range of musical styles, leading me to author four foundational guitar textbooks published by Musical Publishing House (Editura Muzicală) in Bucharest. My practical approach to mentoring has proven highly successful; several of my former students have been accepted into prestigious music universities in Romania, Europe, and the United States, including the world-renowned Berklee College of Music. If you want to learn from a guitarist whose life has been shaped by music and live performance, I would be glad to help you on your journey. Let's make your guitar speak.

Teaching Style

As an educator, my lessons are deeply rooted in my extensive real-world experience rather than dry exercises alone. I teach rock, blues, jazz, fusion, metal, pop, funk, and modern guitar styles on both electric and acoustic instruments, adapting each lesson to the student's individual goals. For beginners, my curriculum covers instrument selection, basic chords, tuning, primary rhythms, fundamental music theory, and ear training. Intermediate students advance to sheet music reading, harmony, modes, arpeggios, and advanced technical skills such as bending, hammer-ons, pull-offs, legato, alternate or sweep picking, and tapping. For advanced players, I offer specialized training in tonal and modal harmony, counterpoint, jazz theory, complex improvisation, and jazz standards. Whether you want to improve your technique, phrasing, tone, stage confidence, or deep understanding of music, I am here to help you build practical skills that work in real-world situations.

Curriculum

My teaching career includes significant institutional, workshop, and private experience. Between 2004 and 2005, I served as a Classical Guitar Teacher at the "Ion Ștefan Paulian" Music High School in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania, where I managed structured curricula for young musicians. Since 2004, I have also maintained an extensive private teaching practice that spans to the present year of 2026, helping hundreds of private electric guitar students develop their skills. My pedagogical work also extends to intensive workshop environments; I served as an Electric Guitar Instructor for the Acoustic Live Music Camp Workshops across six consecutive editions from 2008 to 2013. More recently, at the prestigious Harmonia Cordis International Guitar Festival in Târgu Mureș in 2025, I was featured as an Invited Guest Instructor, where I delivered my specialized masterclass titled "Make Your Guitar Speak" to an international audience of guitar enthusiasts and advanced students.

Credentials & Affiliations

My extensive pedagogical work and contributions to the music community have been formally recognized and published. Between 2006 and 2007, I wrote a series of monthly guitar lessons published in Maximum Rock Magazine. My guitar textbooks and instructional methods have been formally published by the prestigious Musical Publishing House in Bucharest. My bibliography includes "Introduction to Electric Guitar Studies" (2009), followed by "Guitar for Beginners" (2010) and "Learn to Play Jazz Guitar" (2012), both co-authored with Iarina Copuzaru. In 2017, I also published "The Book of Arpeggios". Additionally, I actively contribute to the evaluation of emerging talent, proudly serving as an official jury member for the International Iași Guitar Festival.
