Andrew Dorofeiev

Andrii Dorofeiev was born in Kyiv. He began studying piano at the age of eight. He is a graduate of the Kyiv Secondary Specialized Music School named after M. V. Lysenko for gifted children, where he studied under Tatiana Abajeva and Professor Boris Fedorov of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. I. Tchaikovsky. At the invitation of Professor Jaroslaw Drzewiecki, he is currently enrolled at one of the best music academies in Europe, the Music Academy named after Feliks Nowowiejsky in Bydgoszcz, Poland. In 2020, he began studying in the class of Professor Katarzyna Popowa Zydron. In 2022, he was awarded a Bachelor’s degree with a graduate work titled “The Use of the Concert Etude Form in Ukrainian Piano Literature: A Study of Three Etudes Op. 8 by V. Kosenko.”

Regularly performs concerts in the philharmonic halls of Ukraine. He has been honored with prestigious awards at various piano competitions, including the Grand Prix at the 20th Piano Competition F. Chopin in Ukraine and the 2nd prize at the Seventh International Piano Competition in Tbilisi, Georgia. He embarked on a significant concert tour in the Netherlands, performing in esteemed venues in cities such as The Hague, Ede, and Amsterdam. Additionally, he has been awarded the Grand Prix at the XII, XIII, and XIV International Piano Festival “Bieszczady Without Borders” in Poland, along with several additional awards, including the highest honor, the Golden Parnas in 2019.

During the 2018-2019 season, Andrii recorded four studio albums at the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz, Poland. These albums encompass some of the most remarkable works from the Romantic and Neoclassical eras, featuring compositions by renowned geniuses such as Chopin, Scriabin, Godowsky, and others.

The final CD in his collection features Leopold Godowsky’s Passacaglia based on the theme of F. Schubert’s entry into the Unfinished Symphony. This recording was produced by “DUX Recording Producers,” one of the leading recording companies in Europe. The significance of this record lies in its historical value, as, until now, none of the Ukrainian pianists had recorded this piece in a studio setting. The only high-quality recording available prior to this was made by the Canadian pianist Mark-Andre Hamelin in 1987.

In 2021, Andrii achieved a remarkable feat by ranking among the top 50 pianists in the Masters category at the esteemed international competition, Neapolitan Masters Competition, where the total number of participants exceeded 500 pianists. He also received invitations to perform at the Mimas Music Festival and the Musical Arts Madrid festival. Furthermore, he was honored with scholarships from Euro Arts Academy and Accademia Musicale Europea.

Andrii’s performances have graced prestigious venues worldwide, including the National Philharmonic of Ukraine in Kyiv, the Edeshe Concert Hall in Holland, the Arthur Malawski Philharmonic in Rzeszow, Poland, The National Opera of Ukraine in Kyiv, Rotterdam Hall in the Netherlands, Splendor Hall in the Netherlands, and many more.

Andrii garnered exceptional recommendations from renowned musicians during master classes, including Anna Fedorova from Ukraine, Martin Epsen from Denmark, Andrzej Yasinsky and Lidia Grichtovuna from Poland, Igor Pilatyuk from Ukraine, Andrzej Tatarski from Poland, Sergey Osokin from Latvia, Boris Bloch from the USA, and many other esteemed instructors.
