About

Hi! I am a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and composer based in New York City. I began studying music at the age of seven, when I started taking classical violin lessons. Throughout middle school and high school, I played solo, in chamber groups, and in various orchestras. I studied at New England Conservatory's preparatory program and toured internationally with their flagship youth orchestra in 2017. I also began playing the fiddle in a country band. After high school, I attended Princeton University. At Princeton, I continued to play the violin while minoring in Music Composition. I did intensive coursework in music theory and began composing and performing my own songs. I also taught myself guitar, harmonica, and ukulele. Additionally, while at Princeton, I coached Trenton Central High School students in private lessons and orchestra once a week as a part of the Trenton Arts at Princeton program. I graduated from Princeton in 2022. I am now in my second and final year of graduate school at New York University, where I am pursuing a Master's degree in Music Composition and Songwriting.

I love all sorts of music, but some of my favorite musicians are Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, the Beatles, and John Mayer. In the classical world, I love the music of Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saëns, and Schubert. But I am quite versatile and open to almost any kind of music!

I have learned in a variety of different styles, so I can teach in a variety of styles. For instance, I began my violin studies with the Suzuki method. In contrast, I taught myself guitar by learning covers of my favorite songs online. I recognize that different styles suit different people, and so I am a very flexible, open teacher. I think lessons are the most rewarding when the student brings me a piece of music that they would like to play, and we work on it together. This way, I know that the student is excited about what I am teaching. I am also a big proponent of fundamentals, so I enjoy working on very simple, straightforward exercises that help to establish a solid foundation for more advanced playing.
