About

Teaching private lessons for 15 years, my students have ranged in age from six to eighty years old. I work with beginning to advanced guitarists. Everyone, elementary students, hobbyists, singer-songwriters, and performing musicians are welcome in my studio. My goal as a teacher is to help students of all levels improve with their weekly lessons.

I am a performing blues/jazz/American roots artist. Over the years I have produced and released multiple CDs of original roots/blues music and appeared as a guest artist on other performer’s CDs. I started on my musical adventure playing marimba at the age of 6. And my love  of musical instruments has lead me to become a multi-instrumentalist. I play guitar, uke, cigarbox, banjo, dulcimer, mandolin, bass, conga, drumset, washboard, piano, harmonica, saxophone, and even cajun accordion. A lifelong learner, I attended Southeastern Louisiana University as a classical guitar performance major.

Music lessons are a gateway to creative thinking. Learning “by ear” or with written music and/or tablature, my students follow a custom-made course I create using songs that they enjoy. My aim is to lead all students to a place of confidence and increased ability to make music. And by guiding students along on their own path of development, I go all out to make learning guitar fun!

I teach both acoustic and electric guitar technique as well as music theory.
