About

Angela specializes in teaching elementary/junior high school students and currently teaches elementary classroom and instrumental music. She received her Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's in Performance from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She was awarded the Chancellor's Talent Award scholarship as an undergraduate. Applied horn studies with Laura Klock and Jazz Horn with John Clark. As a freelance musician, Angela enjoys performing chamber music, shows, big band, rock and blues. She recently held the principal horn position for the Seven Hills Symphony. Some of her advanced horn students have gone on to study at the University of Massachusetts and Oberlin Conservatory. A majority of private students have placed in top chairs at the District/All-state level for Band and Orchestra.

My specialty is teaching elementary band. With experience in teaching and starting beginners, I'm cued into the musical interests and attributes of my students. As an arranger/transcriptionist, I have a complete library of my own play-alongs, solos and band arrangements to aid in differentiated teaching. This library is intended to supplement any instrumental methods I currently use. Exposure to all kinds of music is important. I teach students the basics through scales, guided listening, improvisation, duets, singing, movement and dance. My goal is to make the online environment a fun place for exploration and learning where students can stay motivated while developing their music skills. I've discovered some excellent web based learning programs that provide play-along access, and online music studio access for composition and recording.
