About

My name is Anna Anderson and my profession is guiding individuals in their love of music.  With a Bachelor's degree in Music/String Pedagogy and over 30 years of experience, I love to share the joy of music with others. I have been involved in local orchestras, and substitute teaching in local school districts while maintaining my own private music studio. My mantra?  "Music can change the world because it can change people" -Bono.

I believe in traditional methods; scales, triads, arpeggios and cadence work to warm up. These would be followed by  technical study work.  I then have students learn serious literature along with any 'fun' music that they prefer to learn.  I believe that music students need a firm, technical, theory and rhythmic base from which to jump into any preferred genre of music.

Bachelor of Music String Pedagogy, BYU Dec 19, 1983
MTNA, Nationally Certified Teacher of Music
Orchestras: Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, New American Philharmonic, Columbus Community Orchestra

I always have students work through Winning Rhythms by Ayola  along with short sighting assignments.  I start Piano students with 5 finger scales, triads, arpeggios and cadences going through every Major and Minor key.  Beginning books I use (I do not believe in a one book fits all approach) are The Music Tree, Alfred, and Piano Adventures supplimented with Hanon, Czerny etc. then followed with a general 'solo' book meeting their level.

Violin and Viola Student also use Winning Rhythms and go thru all Major, Minor, Harm, Melodic Minor scales and add when appropriate, adding M, m, dim, aug arpeggios following Flesch.  String students are usually started out in the "I Can Read Music" books, either, String Essentials or String Builder followed by Wohlfahrt then Whister for shifting and other basic studies.  First Violin Concerti would be Sietz, Vivaldi, etc  Viola studies would also be Wohlfahrt and Whistler followed by Stamitz, Telemann etc.
