About
Hello! My name is Anna and I am a recent college graduate from West Virginia University! I majored in Criminology and double minored in History and Psychology. Throughout my years as a student, I found that when the teacher or professor made the class more fun and engaging, I did better as a student. When I tutor, I try to ensure a good balance between learning the material and having fun while doing it. Learning should be fun for all students!
Teaching Style
I have been playing the cello for more than 15 years! I actively played in an orchestra for 10 years before I started playing the cello on the side while in college. Now I have been giving private lessons to cello students while also continuing to play professional pieces as a hobby. I have experience in teaching beginners how to play the cello, as well as teaching more advanced students harder techniques. I take the time to go through different exercises with students that teach different skills but also captivate their interest in playing. If students have their own music that they are struggling with I will also take the time to help them learn it. When working with me, students will not only learn technical skills but also music theory and how to play with passion. I also have done some arranging and composing in the past and use this by making new music for my students. But what I love most about teaching the cello is seeing kids go from being nervous or unsure to confident and wanting to play all the time.
