I am a singer, songwriter, emcee, educator and life coach. I was singing before I could talk and began taking piano lessons at 5 years old. Coming from a long lineage of Jazz musicians, I have always had a deep appreciation for intuitive musicality and global community. My love for Hip Hop also began at an early age, and emceeing came as a natural extension while writing poetry and improvising vocally in my Jazz studies during college. In addition to my musical and education practice, I've developed a life coaching methodology which supports creative people of all ages and genres in unlocking a fuller and freer expression. Since music and lyricism has been a big part of my own healing journey, I also love to support my students in transforming their pain or trauma into self expression. I currently reside in Brooklyn, NY and host a monthly jam session and cypher with my band called the WHAT NOW? Sessions, where emcees, singers, and instrumentalists of all kinds come together to improvise music and share inspiration.
My teaching style is focused not just on the technical aspects of lyricism, freestyling, singing and/or songwriting, but also around mindset. This means identifying any limiting beliefs or patterns you may have that get in your way, and creating action steps for you to release and transform them, so you can be freer to create and express your art. When teaching, I always create the session based on the student's individual needs and goals. I listen for what's most important to you as an artist, and build from there. My teaching style is holistic - so if we are working on lyrics and song structure, we will approach this from your major goals, or "big game", as an artist. This way, everything we do can be in service of your highest and best self.
